Sally Green—poet, letterpress printer, book designer, calligrapher, homesteader—is from Port Orchard, in Puget Sound. Since 1982, she has been copublisher of the award-winning Brooding Heron Press, which publishes fine editions of poetry. In 2008, Pacific Lutheran University named her as a recipient of a Stanley W. Lindberg Editor’s Award for excellence. She has taught book arts at Naropa University and Colorado College and led poetry workshops for several arts organizations. For the last forty-four years she has lived off the grid on a small island in the San Juan archipelago of Washington State in a log house built by her and her husband.
